Avegant announces ZeroMount™ technology for binocular alignment of waveguide and light engine
Presenting an innovative design and manufacturing process that seamlessly integrates waveguides and light engines into binocular glasses—achieving precision alignment with minimal error, software corrections for disparity, and volume.

San Mateo, CA – January 28, 2025 – Avegant is proud to unveil ZeroMount™ Technology (patent pending), the most efficient and cost-effective manufacturing process for integrating waveguides and light engines. This breakthrough design introduces a cutting-edge micro-gimbal that enables a high-accuracy mechanical 12 degree of freedom alignment for binocular AR systems.
“Seeing a perfectly aligned binocular system for the first time was mesmerizing—the image sharpness and visual comfort were truly remarkable.” said Ed Tang, CEO and Founder of Avegant. “Glasses manufacturers have long struggled with the complex process of integrating and aligning waveguides with light engines in binocular designs. These challenges lead to poorer image quality, reduced field of view, and increased size & weight. We are excited to introduce our ZeroMount™ technology to resolve these issues and help our customers create extraordinary and optimized experiences.”
ZeroMount™ technology revolutionizes the glasses design and manufacturing process by eliminating the need for bulky housing and frames, resulting in lighter, smaller frames. The micro-gimbal has been designed in a way that minimizes added weight and volume to the system. As a result, alignment accuracy is improved to within one pixel—rendering software corrections for disparity unnecessary. This maximizes the field of view and sharpness, ensuring the optimal user experience.
Avegant is offering ZeroMount™ technology to customers of AG-30L2 light engines and subsequent products. Demos of ZeroMount™ technology are available at SPIE Photonics West 2025 upon request.
