World’s first open, Linux-based ambient computer in the form of glasses for developers and creators debuts in San Francisco, with a 30-degree full-color display built on an Avegant light engine

Raven Prism full-color AR glasses powered by an Avegant light engine

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — October 29, 2026 — Raven Resonance, Inc., the San Francisco company building the world’s first ambient computer in the form of a pair of stylish augmented reality glasses, and Avegant Corp., a leading developer of light engines for AR glasses, today announced the public launch of Raven Prism. The lightweight, all day-wear design uses an Avegant light engine to bring more than 25 apps into view on a bright, full-color display.

Raven Prism runs RavenOS, a 64-bit Linux-based operating system built for openness. Developers can SSH into the glasses, run native ARM64 Linux apps, and build with an SDK published on GitHub. The glasses ship with more than 25 apps.

Raven Prism is a standalone, monocular ambient computer that needs no phone. A full-color image appears in the right eye through a single waveguide, with a 30-degree diagonal field of view. Raven compares the view to a 16-inch laptop screen at arm’s length.

At the heart of that display is an Avegant light engine, a full-color LCoS design built for slim, all-day eyewear. Its small size and high efficiency let Raven fit a full-color display into a frame that looks and wears like ordinary glasses. Avegant engineers worked with Raven’s display team to tune color balance and uniformity.

Key features:

Raven first previewed Prism at AWE USA 2026 in Long Beach. Today’s launch is the first public showing of the full product.

“We built Raven Prism for people who make things and need to access information hands-free,” said Thomas Suarez, co-founder and CEO of Raven Resonance. “That means eyewear that is light enough to forget you’re wearing, with a display bright and sharp enough to work in all day. Avegant’s light engine made a full-color display possible in a frame this small. Their team takes a unique hands-on approach to partnerships, even closely collaborating in-person at our San Francisco lab.”

“Raven Prism is a remarkable product: beautifully designed, open by nature, and genuinely useful from the moment you put it on,” said Edward Tang, founder and CEO of Avegant. “Raven has built an open platform that puts full-color AR in the hands of developers today. We’re proud an Avegant light engine is at the center of it, and we look forward to supporting Raven as they scale.”

Raven Prism is available to order starting today at raven.computer, priced from $1,499. First shipments are expected in January 2027. Raven Prism is also available for enterprise deployments.
